Maternal Fetal Medicine billing and insurance

The billing staff at MFMCP is dedicated to making the financial portion of your medical care a smooth process. Our main billing staff consists of Lisa, Janet, Denise, and E’Nesha. They have diverse experience working with multiple insurance companies and guiding patients through the complicated issues of their insurance coverage for medical evaluations performed in our office. Although the patient bears the ultimate responsibility for payment, we will assist you as much as possible in maximizing the use of your insurance benefits to pay for the valuable healthcare that you have received during your pregnancy or the consultation provided before pregnancy.

Please note that co-payments will be due and collected at the time of service. Any outstanding balances from prior visits/procedures will also be due and collected at your visit. Please note that we accept many forms of payment including major credit cards that can be used for your co-payment or outstanding balances.

If you do not see your insurance listed on our PAR list or your insurance is listed under our NON-PAR list, please call your insurance company’s member’s services department to ask if MFMCP is a par provider and to see if you have out of network benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have to pay a co-pay when I come to your office?

Maternal Fetal Medicine is a sub-specialty of OB-GYN, known as Perinatology. Therefore, our services are not part of a global pregnancy service and a co-pay may apply.

I have insurance. Why did I get a bill?

Your insurance plan may have a deductible, co-insurance and/or copay which is the insured/patient responsibility. You may want to refer to your insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB) or call your member services for further clarification.

Do you participate with my insurance?

We participate with most major insurance companies. Please refer to our Patient Services-Billing and Insurance section for a list of insurances.

Will my insurance pay for a 1st Trimester screen (Ultrascreen)?

Some insurance companies do not pay for screening services unless there is a medical necessity. Each insurance company has their own policy on 1st Trimester screening coverage. You should call your member services number located on your insurance card to inquire if this is a covered service for you.

Can I make payments on my bill? What are my options for paying my bill?
